Local Gardener Margaret Thomas Dies
The members of ValeArts are saddened by the passing of Margaret Thomas. She was a longtime Oak Hill resident whose iris garden became world famous and a inspiration for many artists and photographers. The members of ValeArts spent many creative afternoons at Margaret’s gardens. She will be missed. ValeArts will participate in a tribute show to Margaret Thomas at the ArtSpace in Herndon July 2012.

Historic Vale Schoolhouse listed on National Register
The Vale Schoolhouse, at the corner of Vale and Fox Mill Roads in Oakton, was recently listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The National Register, administered by the National Park Service, is the official list of the Nation's historic places worthy of preservation. The property is listed as the Vale School/Community House, a name which reflects its two worthy periods of significance.
