Artist Statement:

Born in Germany, I have traveled the world over, having been an "army wife" as well as an "army daughter." Throughout my many moves I have always painted and sketched, adding new dimensions to my artistic skills in each new area of the world. I have painted and taught painting in several media, but love the gentle spontaneity of watercolor, for which I am now best known.

My training: a BA in Education and Art and study under noted international artists, Dong Kingman, Zoltan Szabo, Gary Akers, John E. Carter, and Don Andrews. My paintings have won a number of prizes to include a talent competition of my artistic ability in a multifaceted competition of all the arts in Washington State, through which I was awarded a scholarship. I was also most fortunate to be invited to do a one-woman show at the noted Tubingen University in Germany.

I actively support the Fairfax County, Herndon and Reston Communities' Corporate Arts programs and have been an operative in many organizations and art guilds throughout my career. My paintings have found their way into public and private homes and offices, both governmental and corporate, throughout the world.

Between my solo shows and painting commissions, I teach painting classes and workshops, private and public, in my Reston studio, through the Lake Anne Center, Reston, VA and The Fairfax Retirement Center, Alexandria, VA. Believing in a strong foundation of the basics, my classes seem quite popular with students of every age and level of competency. I have also had many speaking engagements on art related subjects and have juried into art shows at various levels. But more than anything - I love to paint!
